Established Intelligent Maintenance Systems (IMS) with 6 initial company members: Intel, Ford, Johnson Controls, Rockwell Automation, United Technologies, USPS.
2001
Established NSF I/UCRC for Intelligent Maintenance Systems (IMS) with 12 initial company members: API, Ford, Harley-Davidson, Intel, ITRI, Johnson Controls, OMRON, Rockwell Automation, Toyota, United Technologies, USPS and WE Energy
2003
Developed First “toolbox approach” to Intelligent Maintenance Systems, dubbed the Watchdog Agent
2004
Received Milwaukee Innovation Award from Mayor of Milwaukee to recognize the Center’s impact to city of Milwaukee
2005
IMS Center Director Professor Jay Lee appointed Ohio Eminent Scholar in Advanced Manufacturing and L.W. Scot Alter Chair Professor; relocated the IMS Center to the University of Cincinnati; Renewed membership with Harley-Davidson, ITRI, United Technologies, OMRON, Toyota; and acquired many new members including: P&G, GE Aviation, Advantech, Komatsu, National Instruments, Toshiba, Nissan, etc

The IMS Center reaches 40 members. The Missouri University of Science & Technology is added as a research site.

IMS Center Director Professor Jay Lee receives Professor of the Quarter Award at the University of Cincinnati.

IMS contributed Bearing Dataset to NASA PHM Data Repository. This Dataset has exceeded over 23,000 downloads of February 2018. This data can be found here.

IMS Center hosted the Sixth World Congress on Engineering Asset Management (WCEAM). This event attracted over 200 total attendees from 20 countries.

The IMS Center receives the National Instruments Prognostic Innovation Award based on its collaboration with member company HIWIN on ball screw health monitoring.

The IMS Center receives the National Instruments Prognostic Innovation Award based on its collaboration with member company HIWIN on ball screw health monitoring.

National Instruments conducts a commercialization trial for the IMS Center's Watchdog Agent.

The IMS Center is selected to recieve a National Science Foundation Innovation Corps (I-Corps) award for assessing the commercialization potential of the Watchdog Agent and the viability of developing a start-up in the PHM field, which would eventually become Predictronics.

The IMS Center was selected as most economically impactful I/UCRC in the NSF Economic Impact Study Report which found that the Center has delivered to its members a combined benefit of over $855 million in value, and that the Center returned $238 of benefits for every $1 invested by the National Science Foundation.

The University of Texas at Austin joins the IMS Center as an I/UCRC university site under Site Director Dragan Djurdjanovic.

Formulation of Spin-off Company: Predictronics Corporation (Professor Lee, Co-founder). Predictronics specializes providing professional Prognostics and Health Management and Industrial AI solutions for many applications, including manufacturing, mining and energy. The IMS Center organizes the 12th IFAC Workshop on Intelligent Manufacturing Systems (IMS 2016), hosted by National Instruments in Austin, Texas. Over 150 attendees from more than 15 countries attended.

IMS Center holds Roundtable Panel on Next Generation PHM and Intelligent System Technologies at the PHM Society annual conference. Panelists in attendance include representatives from IBM, GE, NASA, Analatom and Predictronics.

As of 2020, the IMS Center has hosted over 100 Visiting Scholars from numerous countries including France, Germany, Italy, Spain, China, Taiwan, Japan, Brazil, Norway, and Mexico, among others.
