SME Publishes Article Featuring the IMS Center, Predictronics, and Toyota

SME has published an article featuring Professor Jay Lee, Founding Director of the Intelligent Maintenance Systems (IMS) Center, as well as the co-founders of IMS Center spin-off company, Predictronics, and long-time IMS Center champion and supporter Mark Rucker from Toyota. This article looks at how Professor Lee's original vision for near-zero downtime and intelligent maintenance was far ahead of its time, how that vision was validated on Toyota's air compressors in 2006, and the value it has delivered—no unexpected crashes have occurred since.

The article also highlights how Professor Lee's vision has enabled more recent concepts such as industry 4.0, prognostics health management, and industrial AI (a term coined by Professor Lee).

Finally, the Predictronics team discussed moving the technology past validation and feasibility, to creating repeatable, flexible, deployable, and scalable solutions. Since 2013, Predictronics has deployed these solutions for over 80 clients, worldwide.

The full article, titled Go for zero-downtime performance by ‘testing the machine’s blood’, can be viewed here.
